The Top 6 Things to Do in the Metro This Weekend

Some weekends just treat you right, and this is one of those weekends.

Friday, January 13

Second Friday Art Night at various locations downtown, Little Rock: It’s time for the monthly roundup of downtown businesses opening their doors for an after-hours gallery walk. Highlights include a new CALS exhibit featuring artwork and artifacts created during the wartime incarceration of Japanese Americans in Arkansas, while the Historic Arkansas Museum will host a special tour of the exhibit “75 Years of Historic Arkansas,” complete with live music and Stone’s Throw brews. The fun lasts until 8 p.m. For more info, click here.

CW Arkansas Preview Party at the Innovation Hub, North Little Rock: We get it. The struggle to choose between going out with friends and staying home to catch your favorite show is real. You can do both this weekend at this mid-season preview party where you can find out what to expect from the CW this season and get a sneak peek at their new show “Riverdale” (think “Pretty Little Liars” meets the ol’ Archie Comics crew). You can also chow down on offerings from Lost Forty, Slader’s Alaskan Dumpling Co., Loblolly, Excaliburger, The Wunderbus and Southern Gourmasian. The party starts at 6 p.m. For more info, click here.

Saturday, January 14

“The Princess Bride” at Ron Robinson Theater, Little Rock: Dying to watch an ’80s classic on the big screen? As you wish. The treacherous and magical love story of Westley and Buttercup unfolds for all to enjoy at 1 p.m. for just $5. For more info, click here.

Winter Blast at the Museum of Discovery, Little Rock: Ok, so maybe we’re not exactly in the realm of cold temps, but it’s still technically winter. Either way, the MoD has put together a family-friendly fest of winter-themed activities that include Lego sled races, recreating the aurora borealis and lots more. The fun lasts from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. For more info, click here.

Sunday, January 15

Kent Walker Artisan Cheese & Moody Brews Pairing at Kent Walker Artisan Cheese, Little Rock: Our idea of a perfect foodie day is simple. Start with a killer brunch and then make your way to this delicious event. You can expect expert cheese and beer pairings, along with sweets from Brown Sugar Bake Shop and entertainment from Daniel Vasquez to make sure it all goes down smoothly. It starts at 5:30 p.m. For more info, click here.

Friday-Sunday, February 13-15

Roger and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” at the Robinson Center, Little Rock: You know the story, you know the songs, but nothing quite compares to seeing the magic unfold live on stage.
