MISSION
Since 1973, the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission (ANHC) has been working to conserve Arkansas's natural landscape. ANHC’s professional staff conducts on-the-ground surveys to locate and evaluate occurrences of rare habitats and at-risk species. The information is housed in the Arkansas Heritage Program’s biodiversity database.
ANHC’s public outreach efforts strive to make information on biodiversity interesting, easy to find, and easy to understand. Educational programming is offered to teachers and students to address state and national science standards using Arkansas-specific information. ANHC's goal is to provide an introduction to the natural treasures that are the heritage of every citizen in Arkansas.
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
- ANHC welcomes monetary donations to help support heritage land maintenance and upkeep, protecting some of the state's most ecologically significant areas.
- ANHC offers the Adopt a Natural Area Program for groups and organizations. Adopt a natural area and be our local boots on the ground.
- Be an ANHC volunteer and help with stewardship, research and education. Volunteers assist restoring habitats, monitoring rare species, preparing educational materials and more.
