Men on a Mission 2026: Dr. Jeffery W. Norfleet II

Dr. Jeffery W. Norfleet II
President & CEO, Shorter College

HOW I KNEW THIS WAS MY PASSION
I realized education could change the trajectory of an entire family. Once you understand that, the work becomes bigger than a job. I love building, challenging what has always been done and creating possibilities people may not see yet.

BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
Never become so attached to how something has always been done that you miss what it could become. Leadership requires respect for the past, courage in the present and enough vision to build for people you may never meet.

LESSON I LEARNED THE HARD WAY
You cannot lead every season with the same playbook. Sometimes leadership means pushing. Sometimes it means listening. Sometimes it means making the difficult call. The real work is knowing what the moment requires and having the courage to do it.

BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR
Becoming president of Shorter College. Not simply because of the title, but because of the responsibility that comes with it. I get to help shape an institution, open doors for students and build something that can outlive all of us.
