A new burger spot is getting ready to join the downtown Little Rock dining scene, and it is all about quality, comfort and community. Hazel’s Public House, from the team behind Allsopp & Chapple, will open in early 2026 at 225 E. Markham St. (previously Big Whiskey’s), serving up a fresh take on America’s favorite comfort food.
At the heart of the menu is the restaurant’s signature burger made with USDA Prime, 100% Black Angus beef from grass-fed cattle raised without hormones or antibiotics. The mix of brisket and chuck is seasoned with a custom spice blend and pan-seared for a flavorful crust. Each burger comes on a freshly baked brioche bun made daily in Hazel’s in-house bakery with organic flour and simple ingredients.
“We’re building Hazel’s Public House on the idea that simple ingredients make the best burgers. We let the natural flavors take center stage,” says Eric Carter, co-owner of Allsopp & Chapple and Hazel’s Public House. “Our goal is for every guest to feel the commitment we put into every detail.”
Beyond burgers, guests can expect a lineup of sandwiches, sides, salads and appetizers, all crafted with the same focus on freshness and flavor. The french fries will be cut in-house each day and fried in beef tallow for a rich, savory taste, while desserts feature pies baked from scratch with natural ingredients and flaky, handmade crusts.
The restaurant will also feature a full bar with craft cocktails, local beers and daily happy hour specials. Whether guests are stopping in to watch a game, grab lunch with coworkers or enjoy a date night downtown, Hazel’s aims to create a space that feels both lively and welcoming.
Jay Cowley, co-owner of both restaurants, says, “We’re excited to open this new restaurant concept, where we put a unique spin on some of our favorite foods, crafted the same way we love to enjoy them at home.”
