We would shout “opa,” but it’s rude to talk with our mouths full.
The International Greek Food Festival is determined to bring festivalgoers a new culinary experience each year, and 2017 is no exception. This year the menu updates come in the form of deliciously sweet treats, courtesy of none other than Loblolly Creamery.
This dream team has concocted three new ice cream flavors that will be right at home at the Greek Food Fest:
- Chocklava, a chocolate ice cream with baklava shavings
- Greek yogurt with honey, a tasty new take on an old favorite
- Strawberry with feta, an unexpectedly delightful blend of sweet and tart
To get hungry citizens in on the fun, Loblolly is inviting you to submit a name for the strawberry and feta flavor. Keep the name to 15 characters or less and enter by Saturday, May 13. The winner will be announced Monday, May 15 on the festival’s Facebook page.
And if Greek-inspired ice cream doesn’t pique your dessert interest, you can still find plenty of loukoumathes, kourambiethes, melomakarona, jozhends, kataifi and baklava (now available in a take-home pan!) to help wash down the gyros and lamb burgers and souvlaki and hummus and pastitsio and … You get the picture.
The 33rd annual International Greek Food Festival is set for May 19-21 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on Napa Valley Drive. Find all the details on the fest’s website and follow along on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates.
Need more proof that you’re going to love the new flavors? See for yourself.
