We think we’re coming down with a case of boogie fever. Just in case, we’re dusting off our dancing shoes for the return of Dancing Into Dreamland.
The annual fundraiser benefits the Friends of Dreamland, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring the historic Dreamland Ballroom, and is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Located on the third floor of Taborian Hall on West Ninth Street above the Arkansas Flag & Banner store, the event offers guests a front row seat to a dance competition with local celebrity judges, plus the chance to take a twirl on the ballroom’s iconic dance floor. There will also be plenty of good eats and libations to keep the party going.
Along with preserving the building, Friends of Dreamland is also dedicated to sharing the history of West Ninth Street as a “once-thriving African American business district.” Learn more about the group’s efforts and Taborian Hall’s legacy here.
General admission tickets and group tables for the event are available now. For more information on Dancing into Dreamland, visit the ballroom’s website or follow along on Facebook and Instagram.
