‘Tis officially the season and Hillcrest is ready to get you in the holiday mood. This weekend kicks off Holidays in Hillcrest, a two-day celebration where neighborhood shops and restaurants will open their doors for family-friendly Christmas fun.
The festivities start this Thursday, Dec. 5, at 5 p.m. with Hillcrest’s monthly First Thursday event. There you can get in on lots of holiday specials, live music and displays at local businesses, including a pop-up holiday market, photos with Santa at Hill Station and Hocott’s Garden Center’s annual holiday hayride down Kavanaugh, plus a chance to meet the Grinch.
The fun continues the following night with the annual Hillcrest tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. at the Allsopp Promenade. The Montessori House Choir will be on hand to perform holiday tunes, and keep an eye out for Santa’s helpers passing out cookies and cocoa. Kiddos will also have a chance to get a photo with Santa after the lighting.
