It’s time to pawty. Little Rock’s biggest dog event of the year is back, but with a whole new vibe. Formerly known as Barkus on Main, the newly rebranded Bark in the Park will take place on Sunday, May 3, moving from Main Street to MacArthur Park.
Part dog parade, part block party, Bark in the Park is hosted by the Downtown Little Rock Partnership and promises plenty of entertainment to make both two- and four-legged attendees beg for more. The free, family-friendly celebration kicks off at noon with live music, local vendors, a beer garden, a kids’ zone and lots of green space to spread out and explore.
The festivities start at noon, then at 2 p.m., local pups will strut their stuff in the parade for a chance to win prizes in categories including:
- Leader of the Pack
- Best Pet/Owner Look a-like Costume
- Best Small Dog Costume
- Best Large Dog Costume
- Best Dressed
- Best Float
- Judge’s Choice
- Best Rescue Story
- Best Parade Strut
- Best Golden Oldie
- Best Family or Group Entry
- Best Smile
- Best Diva/Glamour Queen
- Handsomest Boy
- Best Tail Wag
Food trucks will be on-site so you can stay and play until the festivities wrap at 4 p.m. And don’t worry, there will be plenty of treats for your furry companion throughout the day, too.
