“Nanny’s Lawn” by Clarence Cash, oil on canvas, 18×24.
ABOUT THIS PIECE
“The painting was inspired by my grandmother’s home and garden located in my hometown, Batesville, Arkansas. Of course, as a painter, I hope I have captured a sense of the place in my memory. It could be named ‘Unplanned Beauty.’”
ARTIST BIO
Clarence Cash has been painting as long as he can remember, but was never able to pursue it full time until retiring after 50 years as a lawyer. He is now one of 20 painters who show their work at the Art Group Gallery located in the Pleasant Ridge Shopping Center in west Little Rock. He teaches at the gallery, as do some other painters, and lessons are available to anyone interested. He also teaches at LifeQuest.
ARTIST STATEMENT
“[My aim is] to try to be truthful in painting the landscape. That ‘truth’ is to honestly attempt to capture both the essence and spirit of the subject.”
