Myron Yancy
Operations Manager, Baumans Fine Men’s Clothing
HOW I KNEW THIS WAS MY PASSION
I’ve always been into fashion and strived to work in fashion PR after college. However, that trajectory changed when Baumans came along and offered me a different outlet to fashion and world-class menswear.
BIGGEST CHALLENGES IN MY CAREER
Pushing men beyond their set ways or standard look.
BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
It takes more energy to be mean than it does to be nice. I think it’s a simple way of saying this experience is fleeting, and it’s better to remain level-headed through it all.
BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR
Having the opportunity to learn under the stewardship of the late legend L. Wayne Ratcliff. His guidance helped curate the knowledge and confidence that I try to embody.
HOW I UNPLUG AFTER A LONG DAY AT WORK
My road bike. It’s the best way to disconnect from all things trivial, burn 1,400 calories and enjoy the great outdoors.
NONPROFIT I WISH MORE PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT
New Beginnings C.A.S.A. This nonprofit is dedicated to helping those find hope and life after addiction.
ONE THING I WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT MY COMPANY
Baumans has been serving generations of customers across the state of Arkansas for 107 years.
MY FIRST JOB AND WHAT IT TAUGHT ME
I got my first job when I was 14 at the Arkansas Skatium. Working there taught me the importance of humility and customer service, which is something I try to incorporate into my daily life as well.
A SKILL I NEVER EXPECTED TO USE IN THIS FIELD
Networking.
LESSON I LEARNED THE HARD WAY
Overextending myself.
