I love working as a pediatrician but have always wished I could offer longer appointment times and credible recommendations about alternative treatment options. After completing an integrative medicine fellowship, I opened Arkansas Integrative Pediatrics – a consultation-based practice that incorporates modalities like nutrition, botanicals, vitamin/mineral supplementation, mindfulness, physical activity, breathing techniques and mind-body work to address all aspects of health.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
How I knew this was my passion
Traditional and “alternative” medical approaches are often viewed in opposition, but I’ve always seen value in both. Continued education and experience has reinforced my belief that these approaches should enhance one another.
Biggest challenges in my career
Taking a break from medical practice when my children were younger challenged my identity and sense of purpose. Then I found it intimidating to return after years of directing my attention elsewhere.
What I learned from my first job
Every job has tasks you’d rather not have to do. Learn to embrace them as part of the whole experience and don’t put off completing them.
