ArkansasGives in Little Rock: Two successful years down and one record-breaking year to go. Now in its third and final year, this day of giving is all about bringing local nonprofits into the spotlight. You can donate to one of the hundreds of registered charities online or join in fundraising activities around the city like the CALS food truck party. Food Truck Meetup at Good Earth Garden Center, Little Rock: Speaking of food trucks, ’tis the season to start enjoying them out in the great weather. The monthly meetup happens on every first Thursday during spring and fall, and this gathering will bring The Wunderbus, Hot Rod Wieners, Katmandu MoMo, Blackhound BBQ, Loblolly Creamery and Water Buffalo Brewing. Art for Arc’s Sake at Next Level Events, Little Rock: The walls of your home are about to get a makeover in the name of a good cause. For the 21st year, this art show brings together local pros and artists from The Arc (an organization that provides support, advocacy, education and more for people with disabilities and their families) with original pieces up for grabs. Guests can enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer and a cash bar to go along with their new art purchases. The event starts at 5 p.m. For more info, click here.

Arkansas Travelers Season Opener at Dickey-Stevens Park, North Little Rock: It’s like an unofficial commandment of springtime. Thou shalt enjoy thy ballpark and throw back a couple hot dogs whilst thou art at it. UAMS Cancer Institute’s RockStar Lounge at Cajun’s Wharf, Little Rock: Hosted by an outreach group of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Foundation known as the Envoys, this event is headlined by Resurrection – A Journey Tribute. Get your jam on anyway you want it with the band, along with DJ G-Force (a personal fave of ours) and plenty of drinks and eats. The party starts at 7 p.m. For more info, click here

Eggshibition at UALR’s Jack Stephens Center, Little Rock: If you’ve never thought of eggs as an art form, the time to change that is now. This unique event benefits Youth Home, as adolescent psychiatric treatment facility with more than 50 years of service. At the event, guests can bid on original, egg-shaped art by local artists while they enjoy hors d’oeuvres, libations, auctions, live music and more. Saturday, April 8

Junior League of Little Rock’s Downtown Dash 10K/5K, Little Rock: Runners, take your places. This fourth annual jaunt through the city streets is the perfect route for a grand tour of downtown, featuring the Clinton Library, the River Market and the Arkansas Art Center. The race is family friendly (including a 1K event for kids) and stroller accessible, so rally the troops and come on down, because there’s still time to sign up. Even better? This year they’re offering medals to all finishers. The starting line is at the Junior League Building, with the 1K starting at 8 a.m. and the 10K/5K following at 8:30 a.m. For more info, click here.

JDRF Imagine Gala at the Statehouse Convention Center, Little Rock: The march to “turn Type One into type none” continues with this annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation event. The night includes dinner and a live auction, and will also honor supporters Kristie and Adam Mitchell with the 2017 JDRF Living & Giving Award. Doors open at 6 p.m. For more info, click here.

 

Saturday & Sunday, April 8 & 9

Beethoven & Blue Jeans + Beer & Brats Street Party at the Robinson Center, Little Rock: Here’s your chance to keep things casual. The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra will perform Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1, Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2 and, of course, Beethoven’s Consecration of the House Overture with everyone in casual attire — even the musicians. But before each performance, the ASO will bring back the Beer & Brats Street Party in front of the Robinson Center, complete with brats, beer and live music via the Episcopal Collegiate School Steel Drum Band. The street party kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday with showtime at 7:30 p.m. It picks up again for round two at 1 p.m. on Sunday with showtime at 3 p.m. For more info, click here.
