Weekend To-Do List: 9 Events for Thanksgiving Fun

The weekend is long, and it’s full of good people and good food. Here’s some more goodness to bring to the table.

Thursday, November 24

Go!bbler Turkey Trot in The Heights & HillcrestLittle Rock: It’s baaaack. Everyone’s favorite Thanksgiving run returns once again to help you earn your inevitable overeating. Not only do you have a chance to win YaYa’s pies or prizes for best costume at this family walk/run, but it’s also a big food drive for the Arkansas Foodbank. Your entry fee is just a non-perishable food donation, and you even get to choose between 3, 4 or 6.5-mile courses. We also have it on good authority that Santa himself will make an appearance. Start time is at 8 a.m. For more info, click here.

Feeling the foodie stress? These restaurants have your back on Thanksgiving.

Friday, November 25

Green Friday at Pinnacle Mountain State Park, Little Rock: Whether you’re biding your time before Cyber Monday hits or you need a little Black Friday detox, Arkansas State Parks are urging folks to #OptOutside. Plan a picnic, hike to the top or do whatever floats your boat, as long as you’re taking in the beauty of The Natural State. Guided hikes and nature programming will be offered at Pinnacle throughout the day. For more info, call (501) 868-5806 or click here.

Opening Night at Club 27, Little Rock: We’ve been anxiously awaiting the debut of the new dance club (think salsa, meringue, cha-cha) since we found out it was moving into the old Juanita’s location a few months ago, and now it looks like the club’s grand entrance will be made just in time to help you dance away the cranberry sauce. The smooth moves start at 9 p.m. For more info, click here.

Holiday Art Market at Boulevard Bread Co., Little Rock: It’s a well known fact that shopping is much more enjoyable with a delicious beverage in your hand. Try it out yourself and shop local artists like Justin Sharp, Miranda Young, Allie Thompson and more while enjoying live music, happy hour specials and Boulevard gift card giveaways. Stop in from 1-4 p.m. For more info, click here.

Saturday, November 26

Small Business Saturday, Little Rock: This Saturday is Small Business Saturday, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to shop locally all across the city. Many stores are even sweetening the deal by offering specials to shoppers. For example, Bella Vita is serving up complimentary coffee, mimosas and giveaways, and Maddox is giving an additional 10 percent off your entire purchase with the receipt from any other small business. Our favorite part? The Small Business Saturday Scavenger Hunt in SoMa. Get into it.

Merry & Bright Holiday Celebration at The Promenade at Chenal, Little Rock: Christmas is officially in full swing at The Promenade. Get your shop on while the kiddos hang out with some of their big-screen favorites (oh, hey, Olaf) and stop in for free photos with the Clauses, just make sure to visit the Make-A-Wish gift wrap station. You can even snag complimentary samples of some wintery beverages before the inaugural tree lighting ceremony in the courtyard at 5 p.m. For more info, click here.

Curious about those free drinks? We don’t blame you. Learn more here.

The Ten Tenors at Robinson Center Performance Hall, Little Rock: Bust out the jingle bells, folks. These Australian opera rockstars (yes, that’s a thing) are bringing their famous seasonal show “Home for the Holidays” to the newly renovated Robinson. After 17 years of sold-out performances across the world, expect The Ten Tenors to wow you with unique reimaginings of some of their favorite seasonal songs like “White Christmas,” “Joy to the World,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Feliz Navidad” and more. Showtime is 8 p.m. For more info, click here.

The Art Awakens at Core Public House, North Little Rock: If you want to take it slow on the Christmas festivities, douse yourself in Star Wars instead at this new Latino Art Project exhibit dedicated to and inspired by a galaxy far, far away. It runs through Jan. 15, but when you inevitably need to get out of the house this weekend, this exhibit will be waiting with open arms. For more info, click here.

Sunday, November 27

River City Men’s Chorus Holiday Concert at Second Presbyterian Church, Little Rock: Even the slightest dip in temperatures has us thinking it’s lovely weather for a Christmas concert together with this local talent. The chorus will perform old and new favorites alike, guaranteeing to leave you caroling long after the concert ends. Showtime is at 3 p.m., but it you can’t make it, there’s an encore performance on Monday at 7 p.m. For more info, click here.
