UALR Department of Art Brings New Fall Exhibitions

More good news, art lovers. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has a whole slew of new exhibitions headed our way over the next few months. They’ve got everything from film screenings to artist talks and more in the lineup, and we’ve got your rundown. Fasten your seat belts.

“Recollections”

This graphite series by painter in residence Heidi Hogden is all about all things nature. There will be a reception for “Recollections” from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, in the Fine Arts Building lobby. You can find her work in the Maners/Pappas Gallery through Sept. 27.

“Fieldwork”

Carol Golemboski, Kate Breakey, Beth Dow and Jamie Johnson are collaborating for this show, featuring “alternative process photography,” a divergence from the digitally ruled world we live in today. Breakey, a native of Australia, will present a lecture discussing her work at a reception in her honor in Room 161 on Sept. 8. The exhibition will be in Gallery I.

“Learning to Fish”

A somewhat unexpected resource, Rusty Scruby has a background in aerospace engineering and music composition, something he uses to lend a unique technical aspect to his photographic reconstructions. His exhibit will be in in Gallery III through Oct. 2. There will also be a film screening of “Rusty Scruby: Beyond the Plane” that will take place at 12:12 p.m. on Sept.1 in Room 161.

There’s lots going on at UALR this fall, so keep up with all the goings on by checking out the art department’s website. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday-Friday; after Labor Day, hours will include 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturdays and 2 – 5 p.m. on Sundays. All exhibits, screenings and lectures are free and open to the public.
