Karen Reynolds, APRN, MSN, FNP-BC
Co-Medical Director, Piney Ridge Treatment Center
Founding Member & Immediate Past President, Arkansas Nurse Practitioner Association
About me: I am one of the original founders of the Arkansas Nurse Practitioner Association where I donated to establish the ANPA as a 501(c)(3) and contributed many hours to original bylaws. I have served in many ANPA board positions and am currently the immediate past ANPA president. I was named the Arkansas Small Business Association Woman of the Year in 2014, received the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Award of Excellence, named AANP Advocate of the Year in 2020 and in 2021 was one of four national finalists for Remarkable Woman of the Year by Nexstar Media Group. Through the years, I have been a motivational speaker at conferences around the state and have been interviewed by state and local newspapers representing the nurse practitioner role in Arkansas.

Best Career Advice: In school, I struggled with the math of dosage calculation. I was advised to quit college. I never gave up. I studied and soon was teaching others to do the calculations. Never let anyone tell you to quit working toward your dreams. Your drive and your efforts determine your trajectory.
Lesson Learned the Hard Way: I have always struggled with self-confidence. You decide what you want to accomplish and never believe anyone who says you can’t. As long as you and God agree on your goals, with enough hard work and perseverance, you can accomplish anything.
Call to Action: Arkansas is ranked 49th in health care. By allowing providers to have the ability to practice to the full extent of their licensure and training, we enable them to care for their patients. Patients should be allowed to choose their provider and become active participants in their health care, and therefore become healthier individuals.
