The Top 7 Things to Do in Little Rock This Weekend

We’ve got our weekend shades on and we’re ready to party. Confession: We’ve had our weekend shades on all week.

Friday, September 4

Food Truck Friday Kickoff in downtown Little Rock: Reporting this news is a beautiful, beautiful thing. We’ve had to wait (rather impatiently) since June for the weekly meetup at the corner of Main St. and Capitol Ave. to resume, but by golly, we made it. The first meet of the season starts now, and everything is delicious. The trucks are around from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. For more info (including a food truck lineup), click here.

“Sandwiching in History” at Shiloh Baptist Church, Little Rock: As part of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, this monthly tour in central Arkansas highlights many a historic property. September’s feature is the Shiloh Baptist Church, a historically black congregation housed in Little Rock’s Hanger Hill neighborhood at the corner of Hanger and East Twelfth streets. Bring your lunch and learn a little. The tour begins at noon. For more info, click here.

Amasa Hines and Open Fields at Stickyz Rock ’N’ Roll Chicken Shack, Little Rock: If you’re looking for some sweet jams to carry you into the long weekend, search no more. Both old friends Amasa Hines and new favorites Open Fields are from Little Rock, which means they put on even more of a killer show with hometown crowds nearby. Check out our profile on Amasa Hines from our May issue. The show starts at 9 p.m. For more info, click here.

Saturday, September 5

Humane Society of Pulaski County Dog Wash at Kroger, 1900 N. Polk St., Little Rock: The long and short of it is that Fido stinks. To help you through the smelly summer months, the Humane Society of Pulaski County is offering to wash your dog for just $15, with all proceeds going right back to the no-kill shelter. Get Fido freshened-up from from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. For more info, click here.

Lost Forty Night with The Travs at Dickey-Stephens Park, North Little Rock: The age old combo of beer and baseball will be on parade at the Saturday game pitting the Arkansas Travelers against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. To celebrate their beer now being sold at the park, our friends at Lost Forty will be on deck with merch giveaways and plenty of their famous brew. There’s even a Lost Forty seating section, tickets to which they’ve been giving away on Facebook. The game starts at 7:10 p.m. For more info, click here.

Monday, September 7

Opening of the Oval Office at the Clinton Presidential Center, Little Rock: Until now, guests who visited the Clinton Center were only able to view the nation’s lone full-size replica of the Oval Office from the outside, behind protective barriers. Now you can experience the Oval Office as it stood during the Clinton administration. A professional photographer will also be on hand to capture keepsake photos, which will be available for purchase. The Clinton Presidential Center is open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more info, click here.

Thursday-Monday, September 3-7

End Hunger Week at Big Orange, Little Rock: As part of Hunger Action Month, Big Orange (both locations) and the Arkansas Foodbank are teaming up to offer a specialty menu. For five days only, ordering specific items on specific days will send proceeds directly to the Foodbank. For a full rundown of what and when to order, click here.
