The New Taste of 42 Bar and Table

The redesigned 42 Bar and Table (previously Forty Two) at the Clinton Presidential Center now boasts expanded outdoor seating, a private dining space and a new bar. The cosmetic upgrades accompany a revamped menu featuring dishes like fideo de mariscos with lobster, mussels, clams and yellow fin tuna on a bed of angel hair pasta in a tomato broth (see below).

We caught up with Mike Selig — the restaurant’s director of food, beverage and events — to get the 411 on 42.

What big changes did the restaurant space undergo?

There are now a number of seating options: the new custom bar, the banquettes (both indoor and outdoor), the outdoor patio seating surrounding the fire pits and traditional table settings (both indoor and outdoor). Everything but the floor and ceiling is new, so almost everything has changed!

Any major changes in the menu?

The menu was inspired by our monthly “Around the World Thursday” menu. We pick a city or country every month and explore its culinary traditions with a four-course menu. It’s been sold out for years. We wanted to have an avenue to invite all of our guests to enjoy our unique blend of local favorites with an internationally-inspired twist.

What has been the response so far from customers?

The single response we hear most is, “It’s about time!”

What does the 42 team hope the restaurant will be to the community?

A place to come together with family, friends or colleagues to take the opportunity to relax and enjoy the view, the customer service and the dynamic menu; a place where people come and connect with others over fantastic food and tasty beverages.

What are the can’t-miss items on the new menu?

The lobster bisque, osso bucco and pork tenderloin, for sure.
