Box Turtle
Occupying a historic three-story home, this charming shop is filled to the brim with an eclectic assortment of artisan finds. Jewelry, housewares and an apothecary full of locally made scents and products fill the first two floors. Venture upstairs to explore women’s clothing.
Domestic Domestic
The epitome of Americana. With only U.S.-made products, the shelves are lined with unique finds and classic brands like Filson and Red Wing. Think leather bound journals mixed with heirloom glassware and sarcastic magnets.
The Full Moon
This quintessential gift shop on the edge of Hillcrest carries the region’s most acclaimed artists. Glasswork artist James Hayes creates sculptures of all sizes for the store, including his famed holiday pieces. The Full Moon also houses an impressive selection of McCarty’s, the highly sought-after Mississippi clay pottery.
J. Parkey
Local interior and event designer Jonathan Parkey opened his store to carry just what he’s known for: swoon-worthy decor and entertaining pieces. The real showstopper is how he blends traditional furniture with contemporary art from Arkansas artists. Local photographer Matt White’s pieces are not to be missed.

Abbi’s Teas & Things
Whether you take your cup hot or cold, all of Abbi’s tea blends are made in-house and currently served curbside. If you’re looking for a morning jolt, try the drowsy poet, a high-caffeine option and teahouse favorite. The spiced apple chai blend is a great way to shake up your traditional chai order.
By the Glass
This wine bar keeps it simple, but in the best way possible. The uncomplicated menu is full of elevated snacks and the wine list is the same, making it a great spot to start or end an evening out on the town.
Ciao Baci
The food is good, but the cocktails and late night crowd are why Ciao Baci is considered a local essential. They have one of the absolute best decks in town, so if the weather is right, choose to dine (or drink) al fresco.
Mylo Coffee Co.
This hip coffee shop always keeps the brews interesting with seasonal offerings and has a full, locally sourced food menu. If the mochi doughnuts are available, order two, especially if they’re orange.
EAT
Cafe Bossa Nova
At this traditional Brazilian restaurant, every meal must begin with the pao de queijo, aka cheese bread. Other must-try options include the buddha bowl and salpicao. Bossa Nova always has multiple soup specials and offers a soup flight so you can try them all. And if menu items sound unfamiliar, just ask. The friendly staff is happy to help.
The Pantry Crest
This trendy eatery is built around the owners’ Czech and German heritage. The menu does a great job combining classics like schnitzel with American staples like burgers, and both are excellent. Big appetite? They’re known for their lasagna and charcuterie, or try the Simply Leah’s salad for a lighter option. Regardless of what you order, add a side of fries.
Boulevard Bread Co.
This Heights neighborhood mainstay serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and always has a counter piled high with house-made pastries. Everything sells out fast here, including the nightly special, but Sunday brunch is the real star. Order the migas and thank us later.
Heights Taco & Tamale Co.
A lively taco spot in the heart of The Heights, HTT is known for its frozen mojitos, margs and signature cheese dip, and is a crowd pleaser for all group sizes. Veggie lovers should try the veggie fajitas. The fried fish tacos are always a hit, and if you order a salad, opt for the smoked tomato vinaigrette.

Perfect for special occasions, this restaurant also features a beautiful bar and impressive small plates menu for more casual evenings. The menu changes with the season, but always delights. The one constant is the famous chocolate sack dessert, which turns any occasion into a special one.
ZaZa Fine Salad & Wood Oven Pizza Co.
As comfortable as your normal pizza and salad joint, but so much better. And don’t let the counter service-only fool you, the menu is full of interesting combinations like the Forager pizza loaded with earthy elements. Pro tip: Always ask about the specials and never skip the gelato bar.
TAKE A HIKE
Hillcrest wraps around Allsopp Park, providing the ability to step away from the busyness of life and, rather quickly, be immersed in nature. The main entrance to Allsopp is located off of Cantrell Road in Riverdale, from which several trails lead straight into Hillcrest proper. For a fun afternoon, park at the entrance and try this low intensity hike. Once you make it to Kavanaugh, enjoy a break at Hill Station. The casual outdoor environment is a treat for kids and dogs, and the menu will please the adults.
BONUS: The park recently completed a fully paved trail, a welcome addition for many, especially families with strollers.
