Little Rock is getting a taste of Transylvania this fall when “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” comes to the Robinson Center as part of a 40-city “Spooktacular Tour” with one of its original stars taking the stage.
Set for Tuesday, Oct. 20, the event will feature the original, unedited film on the big screen while a local cast performs on the stage below. Nell Campbell, who played the bejeweled and beloved Columbia in the 1975 film-turned-cultural-phenomenon, will host the evening’s festivities.
“I never would have thought all these years later we’d be touring our little ole film,” Campbell says. “I’m so thrilled to get back on the road and to meet several generations of fans. Looking forward to a lot of fun just like it always was!”
Fans of the cult favorite musical know audience participation is a key part of the “Rocky Horror” experience, and this screening invites attendees to join in that tradition. Costumes are also very much encouraged, with event hosts noting, “Sequins are encouraged. Fishnets are practically mandatory.”
“Fifty years after audiences first discovered ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ its message of self-expression, acceptance and community remains as powerful as ever,” says Scott Stander, producer and Spooktacular presenter. “This tour is more than a screening. It’s a celebration of the fans who have kept Rocky alive for generations. Bringing [Campbell] in for this Spooktacular experience is something truly special, and we can’t wait to share it with audiences across North America.”
