Miracle League of Arkansas to Host Annual Burger Competition

The Miracle League of Arkansas is kicking off summer break with a burger-eating, beer-sipping block party on Sunday, June 9, in The Heights.

The nonprofit will host its fourth annual Miracle League Burger Competition with local cooks and pro chefs facing off to compete for top honors. The winner also will secure a “golden ticket” to the World Food Championships in Indianapolis in November.

All along Kavanaugh, attendees can enjoy free sliders from the competitors and vote for their favorite, visit the beer tent and listen to live music by Joe Sundell and the Rock City String Band, plus activities for the kids.

All proceeds benefit Miracle League of Arkansas, a baseball league that serves to empower locals living with disabilities.

“Our goal is to ensure that every child in the state of Arkansas with a special need has an opportunity to play the game of baseball,” former board member and longtime volunteer Darek Braunecker told Soirée in 2019, “but it’s not just about the kids. Miracle League allows families to watch their child participate in something they would never have otherwise had an opportunity to do, to cheer for their kids while they’re being cared for and tended to and having a great time. It’s pretty magical.”
