BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR
In residency I pursued specialized training in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). As one of only a handful of ECT providers in Arkansas, I help patients by providing this highly effective, sometimes lifesaving treatment.
HOW I KNEW THIS WAS MY PASSION
In college I majored in psychology and music. My foundational interest in mental health was reinforced in medical school when I realized that psychiatry would allow me to help patients on a most personal level.
NONPROFIT I WISH MORE PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT
Suicide has impacted me both personally and professionally. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is an organization dedicated to saving lives and helping people affected by suicide.
WHAT KEEPS ME COMING BACK TO MY JOB EVERY DAY
Treating both inpatients and outpatients is challenging and intellectually stimulating, but the greatest reward is feeling like I’ve made a difference in someone’s life.
I also love working with a great team of nurses, social workers and other physicians.
BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED:
In deciding what to do with your life, be completely honest with yourself about what motivates you, fulfills you and makes you happy. Work hard, dedicate yourself and pursue it.
