Men on a Mission 2021: Greg Stubblefield

BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR
Being promoted to my current role of president of Baptist Health Extended Care Hospital, a long-term acute care hospital located on the campus of Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock.

BIGGEST CHALLENGES IN MY CAREER
Ensuring access to care for Arkansans, especially throughout the pandemic while dealing with bed capacity strain, staffing challenges and encouraging staff members to maintain work-life balance.

WHAT KEEPS ME COMING BACK TO MY JOB EVERY DAY
I admire how the physicians and caregivers have not only stood up during the pandemic, they have stepped forward to meet the challenges. And, getting to know patients and family members during their hospital stay.

NONPROFIT I WISH MORE PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT
Baptist Health Foundation. It connects philanthropy with our mission of providing compassionate care to patients often in their most difficult times. You can visit baptisthealthfoundation.org to learn more.

HOW I KNEW THIS WAS MY PASSION
When patients and family members send thank you notes or come back to say “thank you” to the care team in-person. Also seeing the compassionate care and hands of healing administered by our caregivers on a daily basis.

MY FIRST JOB AND WHAT IT TAUGHT ME
Dishwasher at Pomfret Hall at the University of Arkansas. It taught me how to balance work and school while maintaining a social life.

A SKILL I NEVER EXPECTED TO USE IN THIS FIELD
Resolving conflicts among patient family members

ONE PRACTICE I USE TO MAINTAIN MY MENTAL HEALTH
Yardwork on Saturday afternoons

BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
You’re interviewing for your next job while you’re in your current role.

ONE THING I WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT MY COMPANY
