HOW I KNEW THIS WAS MY PASSION
I have always loved people and numbers. I knew this was the right career choice when I was given the opportunity early in my career to lead a team that needed some direction.
BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR
Watching a team come together during the pandemic. Our team definitely stepped up to the challenge. Whether it was through the origination of PPP loans, keeping our bank open or helping our associates stay healthy, everyone came together.
BIGGEST CHALLENGES IN MY CAREER
I am fortunate to have been in banking through both the Great Recession and through the pandemic. Those were the biggest challenges in my career, but I am also a better banker because of these invaluable experiences.
A SKILL I NEVER EXPECTED TO USE IN THIS FIELD
I tend to not be a very patient person, but I have to work on this skill each day and remember that there are times when you do have to just let things develop on their own.
ONE THING I WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT MY COMPANY
Our mission statement, People First, isn’t lip service. It defines us as a bank and is at the heart of every decision we make. Putting our associates first, our customers first or our communities first, is what we live by.
MY FIRST JOB AND WHAT IT TAUGHT ME
My first job was as a data analyst at a technology firm. It taught me workplace culture and it also helped me learn that I was definitely in the wrong job.
NONPROFIT I WISH MORE PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT
Younglife. Growing up in today’s world is a challenge for young people, especially with social media. Younglife gives them an outlet to communicate with their peers while also becoming closer to God. My two daughters have benefitted from Younglife.
WHAT KEEPS ME COMING BACK TO MY JOB EVERY DAY
Our people. We have a wonderful group of associates and I feel it is my duty to make sure I lead for them to help them grow and be successful.
ONE PRACTICE I USE TO MAINTAIN MY MENTAL HEALTH
Exercise. I exercise five or six times a week. It keeps my mental mind fresh.
BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
Treat people the way you want to be treated.
WHAT KEEPS ME MOTIVATED
Working hard for all our stakeholders to make sure we are successful in everything we do.
THE FIRST THING I DO TO COURSE CORRECT WHEN I HIT A WALL
I like to think, so I usually go fishing and clear my mind.
