Now in its second year, the Made in Arkansas Film Festival is adapting with the times and will be virtual and interactive this time around. Folks can enjoy the talents of local filmmakers from the comfort of their couches during May 26-30.
The inaugural festival provided an opportunity for filmmakers to gather, swap ideas, support each other’s work and network for future projects. This year, the fest has expanded its entry guidelines to accept submissions from filmmakers with an Arkansas connection, and to filmmakers in neighboring states.
Film buffs will still get much of what they love about the festival, including opportunities for interaction and conversations between filmmakers and the public thanks to an online platform called Kosmi. The 2020 festival will screen 60 short films and four feature films beginning at 7 p.m. each weeknight and 6 p.m. on Saturday. Viewers can join Kosmi to watch through the Facebook link.
The Made in Arkansas Film Festival is also giving awards in five categories on Saturday, May 30, and you’ll be able to vote each night for audience favorite in each block. And because nothing can really replace the magic of seeing these films on the big screen, the festival will be back at the Ron Robinson Theater in the fall for a Best of Made in Arkansas Film Festival 2020 event.
