Attention avid runners, occasional trotters and those with the best of intentions: It’s time to lace up the cross-trainers and turn up the tunes. Global Running Day is June 1, and there are plenty of ways you can join the worldwide party.
Global Running Day also includes an initiative called The Million Kid Run, which, according to the website, is dedicated to “making fitness fun and inspiring kids to embrace running as a way to get healthy and fit.”
Here’s how to get in on the fun.
If you’re all about the team, you might want to join the folks at Go! Running for an organized fun run/walk at Murray Park. The out-and-back trip begins and ends at the park’s pavilion, and there’s even the chance that you could win one of two free pairs of running shoes donated by Go! Running and Rock City Running. There’s no set distance, no timing and no entry fee. All you have to do is sign up. Start time is 6 a.m. Click here to register.
If you’re all about the team, but are not a morning person, join forces with Fleet Feet Sports Easy Runner for a fun run/walk at 7 p.m. After the run, Orange Theory Fitness will be on deck to provide a mini-training session followed by an afterparty catered by Tropical Smoothie & Legacy. Click here to RSVP.
If you’re more interested in a solo run, check out a few of our staff favorite trails and routes by clicking here.
