Enjoy the View on These Metro Little Rock Trails

Is it just us, or does this time of year get you itching to go outside and enjoy the weather? When we just can’t take it anymore and have get out there, here are some of our staff picks for the best places to go for a run, a hike or even just a walk around the Metro.

We’ll see you out there.

Lake Willastein Park, Maumelle

“Lake Willastein is a fave. You have a great view of the lake the whole way around, and it’s on a hill, so there’s always a nice breeze. And it’s really close to Sonic, which is a nice refuel after your walk.”

-Annette Terrell

“Lake Willastein is a great hidden gem when all the parks in Little Rock are packed on a sunny, nice day. It’s an easy two-mile loop right off the boulevard that makes for the perfect leisurely stroll or a nice afternoon run. It’s my go-to all spring and summer!”

-Devan Malone

Emerald Park, North Little Rock

“I love Emerald Park’s trail. It’s not very long (just under two miles), but the views are absolutely gorgeous with cliffs overlooking the river and a beautiful view of downtown, including the capitol. It’s nature in the middle of the big city!”

-April Scott

Cadron Settlement & Laurel Park, Conway

“I like the trails at Cadron Settlement in Conway for a more natural setting, but for an urban setting I like the walking trail that wraps around and through Laurel Park in Conway. It reminds me of areas of Central Park, in a way, because on nice days, the place is thick with people and pets all out enjoying the big lawn. It runs a complete block in Conway, with tennis courts at one end, a playground at the other and places along the way to cook out or throw a hammock.”

-Dana Meyer

Rock Creek Trail, Little Rock

“This 2.9-mile paved trail is perfect for running and walking in WLR. We live in St. Charles and the trail goes right by the Chenal entrance to the neighborhood. It’s a cool area through there because it runs by the creek that sits between the four lanes of Chenal Parkway. It’s oddly peaceful.”

-Mandy Richardson

Two Rivers Park, Little Rock

“I’ve covered a lot of trails and parks in this city, but this one is still my favorite. The path winds and loops enough to allow you to easily tailor your distance (or continue on to the rest of the River Trail) while the bridge provides an added challenge. Plus, if you time it right, you’ll catch an unbeatable view of the sunset behind Pinnacle Mountain.”
