January 30 will be the day Good Food by Ferneau closes its doors. Executive Chef Donnie Ferneau has announced he’s leaving the North Little Rock restaurant to take over as executive chef at The 1836 Club.
Good Food by Ferneau opened in 2014 in Argenta and shared the space with Butcher & Public, a hand-crafted Arkansas meats butchery which closed last March. Good Food by Ferneau was longtime Little Rock chef Donnie Ferneau’s first restaurant since leaving Rocket 21 nearly three years ago.
Ferneau took to the restaurant’s Facebook page to relay the news to customers:
“I wanted to take a moment, and personally thank each of our customers, and following, for a memorable (almost) 2 years. I hope I was able to provide you with great quality food, at fair prices, good times, and knowledge about the importance of cooking anti-biotic, hormone, and process free foods. It’s been fun, I appreciate all of you!”
The 1836 Club is a private club restaurant led by Jeremy Hutchinson, and is scheduled to open in the spring at the McDonald-Wait-Newton House at 1404 Cantrell. The club offers private dining and bar areas and is labeled as “an exclusive club for business professionals.”
“The 1836 Club is thrilled to have Donnie Ferneau and his team come on board,” Camp said in a news release. “We look forward to opening our doors and providing a much-needed space in Little Rock for business professionals to enjoy good company, food and drinks.”
2016 has already been a roller coaster of food news, following the closing of 1620 Savoy and opening of The Food Truck Stop @ 801 and Juice Leaf.
