Spring is almost here, which means the metro will soon be blooming with flowers, greenery and plenty of outdoor events to enjoy the beautiful weather.
One event families won’t want to miss is the North Little Rock Public Library System’s Garden Fest 2026.
The festival will take place at Laman Library on April 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free and open to all ages, Garden Fest invites the community to celebrate the natural world with activities, lectures, vendors, hands-on fun and more.
Whether attendees are explorers, budding naturalists or simply looking to grow their green thumbs, there will be something for everyone to learn and enjoy.
Here are a few events visitors can expect at Garden Fest 2026:
For the Birds: Spring Migrants
10-11 a.m.
In partnership with Wild Birds Unlimited, we’re discussing spring migrants. You can expect to learn about orioles, grosbeaks, buntings and more. Whether you’re a seasoned bird enthusiast or a curious beginner, this program offers something for everyone. Birding kits will be available for checkout — come learn, observe and connect with nature!
Combo Pot Planting Demonstration
10-11 a.m.
Prepare for spring planting and maximize your plant pot space with our friends from The Good Earth Garden Center.
Mr. Fix-It Workshop
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
This workshop, led by Mr. Fix-It himself, Kendell Snyder, hopes to increase your knowledge and confidence in your own ability to execute home repair. Don’t let your lack of familiarity with home maintenance stand in the way of your lawn mower and weed eater maintenance! Get insight on the proper way to care for and maintain both your lawn mower and weed eater to ensure the longevity of both of these crucial lawn maintenance tools.
Grow Your Own Groceries: Microgreens! in the Gallery
11 a.m. – noon
If you have ever wanted to grow your own food at home, but aren’t sure where to start, this lecture is for you. Derek Reed from the U of A Extension Office brings his nature (and nutrition) knowledge to this doable demonstration for folks ages 13 and up in the gallery.
Flower Arranging Workshop
12-1 p.m.
Ever wanted to learn to arrange your own bouquets with beautiful, seasonal flowers? Learn tips and tricks from our friends at North Hills Florist & Gifts, an award-winning flower shop right here in North Little Rock. They’ll demonstrate how to create a beautiful and professional-looking bouquet, which will go home with one lucky attendant. After this demonstration, you’ll have the skills to design your own bouquet at home and keep it fresh and healthy for longer.
(Event descriptions provided by the North Little Rock Public Library System.)
With activities for kids such as picking flowers for a cardboard vase, decorating a flower pot and a scavenger hunt, plus storytimes, DIY activities and lessons about insects, Garden Fest 2026 will be abuzz with all-day events. For a full list of activities, click here.
