Family-Friendly Nostalgia Fuels Summer @ CALS Movie Lineup

Nothing hits quite like nostalgia, especially when it hits the big screen, and this summer the Ron Robinson Theater is serving it up in spades.

The Central Arkansas Library System theater is bringing out the family-friendly flicks as part of its Summer @ CALS seasonal reading program. Starting on June 14, kids can get a taste of some of their parents’ childhood favorites on Saturdays at 12:30 p.m.

Here’s what’s on the lineup:

  • June 14 – “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (1990)
  • June 21 – “Free Willy”
  • June 28 – “Kung Fu Panda”
  • July 5 – “An American Tail”
  • July 12 – “Mary Poppins” (1964)
  • July 19 – “Shrek”

The 315-seat theater is part of the CALS Library Square campus in the River Market and boasts a diverse slate of screenings, including more favorites like “Fried Green Tomatoes,” screenings of “National Theatre Live” productions, the interactive BingoFlix series and even a weekend-long Val Kilmer tribute in May.

And yes, the popular Terror Tuesday series will also return this summer. Though it has yet to release a full lineup, it will begin with “Deliverance” on May 27.

Theater doors open an hour before showtime and concessions are available for purchase in the lobby. For more information, visit the CALS website and follow the Ron Robinson Theater on Facebook and Instagram.
