Donate Your Shoes at Dickey-Stephens Park to Provide Clean Water

Spring is finally here so we know you’re getting some spring cleaning done. While you’re cleaning out your closet, save a few pairs of old shoes because we know exactly what you should do with them.

Karla and Beckham Allen with Ozark Water Projects (OWP) and the Arkansas Travelers have partnered together to create an event that will get you a $3 discount to the afternoon game, but will also help provide fresh drinking water to those who do not have it.

When you bring at least two pairs of well-loved shoes to the Dickey-Stephens Park on May 31, OWP will export the shoes to distributors in Kenya, South America and Haiti, who will then resell the shoes at an affordable price to local developing economies. The funds created will then go toward purchasing well-digging rigs, water purification systems and other supplies to bring clear, fresh water to those in need.

The shoes can be any kind, size or type as long as they are still wearable. If you can’t make it on May 31, but would still like to help, the Little Rock and North Little Rock fire stations serve as drop off locations. For more information on how you can help or be a part of OWP, visit the OWP website or Facebook page.
