Everyone’s favorite curious teddy bear is coming to the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts.
“Corduroy,” a children’s theater performance with themes of friendship, determination and acceptance based on Don Freeman’s iconic beloved picture books, will take place in the performing arts theater at AMFA from Nov. 25 through Dec. 23.
In this delightful stage adaptation, you’ll join the curious bear as he wanders all through a department store in search of his missing button. While Corduroy leaves behind small messes, a night watchman is on the hunt to find the source of the playful destruction and a young girl dreams of bringing the sweet bear home.
The magical world of “Corduroy” will come to life beginning tonight with a special book reading by Craig O’Neill. Countdown to “Corduroy” is a free, family-friendly event that will include a live book reading in the theater, a sneak peek of the set and art-making activities for the kids once the reading is finished.
Performances will take place every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., and on Sundays at 2p.m. AMFA will offer special weekday matinee performances running Dec. 19-22 at 10:30 a.m. Plus, a sensory-friendly performance will take place on Dec. 2 at 10:30 a.m., and a performance featuring ASL interpretation will take place on Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.
