Bill Brookshire Talks Rebirth of the Addys

It’s a new era.

The Little Rock division of the American Advertising Federation hosts the Addys every year, an awards ceremony dedicated to showcasing the best of the best from the creative community in the city.

This year, AAF Little Rock is completely transforming the Addys to make them more guest friendly and, well, fun. We’re talking music, food trucks, drinks and more.

We got the low-down on the new event from Bill Brookshire, creative director at Stone Ward and president of AAF Little Rock.

Tell us a little bit about the spirit of the Addys.

BB: The Addys (American Advertising Awards) celebrate creative excellence in our local area and provide a gateway to the national competition. Little Rock frequently receives recognition at both a district and national level. We’re proud of the great work that both agencies and publishers in our area produce.

Why was this transformation needed, and what inspired it?

BB: The advertising industry changes constantly, and our club changes with it. Both our organization and the agencies it represents constantly evolve to meet the needs of our consumers.

What can guests expect at this year’s event?

BB: The team of industry professionals that developed this year’s Addy event focused on celebrating the award-winning work and those that created it. The team named the event Bonfire of the Addys because it burns through traditional expectations and sets a new standard for award presentations that aligns with what a modern audience requires.

We’ve changed everything. Social media photo trophies replace lucite, a DJ replaces the lengthy presentation, local food trucks replace traditional food spreads and signature cocktails from Rock Town Distillery cap a night celebrating the work that makes Little Rock a creative leader in the region and the country.

Everything at the Addys originates from local sources; from the drinks by Legacy Wine and Spirits and Rock Town Distillery to Excaliburger and Loblolly creamery that will provide dinner for guests.

Color us interested.

The Addys take place this Thursday, March 10, from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at Rock Town Distillery. Check out the Facebook event page for more info, and you can get your tickets here
