Monica Treat is the owner of the Treat Insurance Agency. She started the company in 2008. The business has grown organically through referrals and word of mouth. Fourteen years later, Treat Insurance Agency is one of the most sought-after agencies in Arkansas for its expansive knowledge on Medicare.
How did you get into the insurance industry?
The summer after I graduated high school, my grandpa told me that he wanted to come out of retirement and start a new insurance agency with me. He built a very successful insurance career in the ‘80s and ‘90s. He was excited to share his knowledge with me, so he sent me to insurance school at the ripe age of 18. I remember sitting in the ISTA class off Rodney Parham and having no idea what basic insurance words meant. My mom paid for my insurance, so I had no idea what a “premium” or “deductible” were! It makes me giggle thinking back to the panic I had during that class!
My grandpa never came out of retirement. During college I started working for United American Insurance. After about five years, my entrepreneurial spirit was itching to start my own agency. At the age of 25, I eagerly started Treat Insurance Agency out of the spare bedroom of a town house my husband and I lived in at the time. It was just me with ZERO clients! I drove the state of Arkansas selling insurance out of my car and quickly realized that Medicare beneficiaries needed someone they could trust to navigate them through the complexities of Medicare. I’m thankful that I leaned into this niche market.
How does your business look today?
I have the most amazing staff that I LOVE to gush about! In addition to me, I am blessed with three power women who keep the wheels of the office turning beautifully. Courtney, DJ and Taylor are Treat Insurance Agency’s best assets. They are committed to providing our clients with an incredible level of service and they truly love our mission to make Medicare easy. I am so grateful for their devotion and love for our clients. They make the agency exponentially better.
What makes your business thrive?
We are always looking out for the client’s best interest above our own. When we are meeting with someone new to our agency, they can feel the difference of sincere care and concern for them. If their retirement option is in their best interest, we will be the first to tell them that. Their trust in our motives as well as our knowledge have been the driving force of our growing business.
