Whether you like it or not, Valentine’s Day is coming up pretty fast. If you’re not quite a fan of the sweet, romantic holiday, how about a few suggestions on celebrating Anti-Valentine’s Day?
It doesn’t matter if you want to go out with the guys, girls or even go solo, if you’re going against the grain this year, do it in style with these recommendations:
- Practice your shot. Head over to the archery range and put your skills to the test. There are a few spots in the area to shoot, including Archer’s Advantage 6805-B West 12th St., Little Rock. The good things is they have an indoor range with a staff on hand to work one-on-one with you to increase your accuracy and have fun shooting a bow and arrow. It’s $10 for an hour of range time and you can ask if you can bring a headshot of your ex to tack on to the target. For more information, call (501) 663-2245.
- Work up a sweat. It might a good time to work out that aggression. How so? Kickboxing! Westside MMA, 1021 Jessie Road, Little Rock, offers 45-minute kickboxing classes throughout the week. See the full schedule here. Call (501) 663-3850 to get rates and more info. Or, get those legs spinning and work up a sweat at a spin class at ZenSpin. The hot spot has several ZenCycle and HIIT Cycle offerings throughout the week at $18 a pop at both locations (The Heights, 5612 R St., Little Rock; West Little Rock, 27 Rahling Circle). Get a look at the schedule here and find more information here.
- Sing your heart out. Have a broken heart? Sing about it. Several spots in and around Little Rock offer karaoke nights and a chance to sip on an adult beverage, including the Town Pump, 1321 Rebsamen Road, Little Rock, on Tuesdays; Dugan’s Pub, 401 E. Third St., Little Rock, and Rack ‘Um Sports Bar, 2817 Cantrell Road, Little Rock, on Wednesdays; W.T. Bubba’s, 500 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock, on Thursdays for Redneck’n Karaoke; and the Revolution Room, 300 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock, on Saturdays. And here are some song suggestions: classics like “Heartbreaker” by Pat Benetar, “Maneater” by Hall & Oates, “Tainted Love” by Soft Cell and for the country lovers, we think “Straight Tequila Night” by John Anderson might be fitting. Get more information about these places here and find more chances to sing the night away here.
- Satisy your sweet tooth. Here is something you can do after Friday (Feb. 14): swing by your neighborhood grocery store or Walmart and buy up all of the discounted Valentine’s Day candy. Whether you love that sweetheart candy with your favorite V-day message like “Be Mine” and “Kiss Me,” Hershey Kisses or a box of chocolates, stores will be marking that stuff down after the romantic holiday has come and gone. And after you’ve bought all of your candy, get your sugar rush while watching a horror or action flick. Find a list of movies to watch here!
