The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts has announced another exciting season of performance programs for all ages.
Since opening in April, America’s Most Inviting Art Museum has hosted artist talks, children’s theater shows, film screenings and more, all in the state-of-the-art performing arts center. The programs span different artistic outlets, but all have the same end goal of bringing the community together in a space everyone can enjoy and be proud of.
For families and younger audiences, “Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About a Terrible Monster” will be shown from Sept. 29 through Oct. 1. Hundreds of illustrated paper puppets, two-dimensional props, furry monster puppets, live actors and songs will bring Mo Willems’s books to life in this unique experience by the Emmy Award-winning production company Manual Cinema.
The Fourth Wall Ensemble will bringing its high-flying performance “Without a Net” to the museum Nov. 3-4. All ages will enjoy this hybrid art experience that blends music, theater, dance and acrobatics.
Also for the kids, AMFA’s Children’s Theatre company will produce the heartwarming play “Corduroy” this coming season. This beloved picture book by Don Freeman will vibrantly come to life in this fun and highly physical adaptation. It will run from Nov. 25 through Dec. 23, with special school performances, weekend shows and daily matinees during its final week.
This fall also marks the museum’s inaugural concert series. From jazz to soul, R&B, indie folk, Americana and more, there will be a genre and show for everyone. The upcoming concert lineup includes:
- Don Bryant featuring The Bo-Keys – Sept. 14
- Magos Herrera – Oct. 12
- The Secret Sisters – Nov. 9
- John Fullbright – Dec. 7
Tickets can be purchased on AMFA’s website. As always, members will receive a discount on ticket prices. To learn more about AMFA’s programming, visit the museum’s website and follow along on Facebook and Instagram.
