An emphasis on some of the best moments of the new issue, on-set style, furry friends and more.
Dressed to Impress
“DuShun came to the photo shoot prepared and ready to roll, with plenty of watches, socks and shoes on hand,” stylist Josie Burnett says of the Arkansas Martin Luther King Jr. Commission executive director. “He brought multiple suit options for me to choose from, including one blazer with a hand-sewn MLK Commission patch. His wardrobe was a proper reflection of his style and personality, all conveying intellect, efficiency and sophistication.”
Staying Cozy
We’re keeping things extra cozy this month, and one very tasty piece of that puzzle is our featured chili recipe from restaurateur Ben Brainard that won over attendees at Chili Fights in The Heights last fall.
“Chili Fights is always so much fun, but this year was the first time I entered the competition,” team captain Jill Kamps says. “Although it rained, almost every team showed up and had a great time hanging out with each other and everyone who came out. The Jill for Judge team had a not-so-secret weapon: my brother-in-law Ben Brainard. The chili was so good that I was a little bit sad when I ate the last bowl. I’m looking forward to next year and another Chili Fights benefitting the Arkansas Foodbank.”
Standout Quote
“Arkansas will only realize our immense potential when everyone has a seat at the table.”
– Bill Kopsky, executive director of the Arkansas Public Policy Panel
Teddy B
Spend any time around artist Raven Halfmoon and you’ll likely meet her beloved, fluffy pup Teddy B who goes everywhere with her, including her six-week residency at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts last fall. Once he made his adorable appearance on the Soirée set, we simply had to know more.
“Teddy B is a baby grizzly bear, also known as a red Chow Chow. He is one year old, my loyal service dog and the light of my life,” says Halfmoon, who notes he was a big fan of the Arkansas River Trail and chasing squirrels on the AMFA lawn. “He told me he especially loved the art walk and the AMFA art collection.”
Keep an eye out for Teddy B on Instagram.
