Let’s Get Physical

Our spring 2025 fashion feature is all about movement, action and a healthy dose of play. And when it came time to capture it, we knew exactly where to go: the Jim Dailey Fitness and Aquatic Center.

“We picked this location for the retro vibes, chill atmosphere and the unique wood accents throughout the building. The true gem of the facility is the gorgeous indoor pool with its wooden vaulted ceiling, red and white graphic paint and ample natural light from windows spanning the length of the pool,” art director Emma Devine says.

“And while it may have been a dreary day outside, inside the sauna was hot and the jams in the 10 a.m. senior dance class were hotter!”

Mi Paella es su paella

Just hours before snow and ice blanketed the city, we couldn’t have felt more welcome in the warm company of the Mi Paella family. Once we wrapped the shoot, they set a table for us and divided up all the dishes for us to enjoy, and we happily obliged. Now that spring has arrived, we can’t wait to hit the patio, fill up on paella and soak up the warm weather — mojito in hand.

Easy, Breezy, Beautiful

Adding to the eye-catching looks this issue is the sunny wardrobe donned by a team of leading ladies for the Arkansas Repertory Theatre.

“This year, ‘Let the Sun Shine In’ is the vibrant theme for The Rep’s Ovation! Gala, and I wanted the women’s clothing to reflect that same bright, playful energy — something that just screams summer,” stylist Josie Burnett says. “For inspiration, we looked to the timeless, iconic style of Palm Beach: light, colorful and effortlessly chic. We carried that breezy sophistication into the set design for the shoot, and though it took a full team to bring it all together, the final result was totally worth the effort.”

“Theater is what everyone had in common that day, so it was a bodacious group of women and we had a really good time. When I walked in, I thought I had entered a Miami bar,” laughs Stacy Sells, co-chair of this year’s gala.

Above the Barre

At this month’s Turning Pointe Gala, Ballet Arkansas will present the Above the Barre Award to Little Rock Soirée as a longtime supporter of the arts with two of our own — publisher Mandy Richardson and editor Jess Ardrey — accepting the award on behalf of Team Soirée. And while we’re not used to being on this side of things, we’re honored and humbled not only to be recognized, but to get to spotlight the nonprofits and cultural institutions that make this the city we love so much. See you on April 12!
