Score Book-Themed Eats at These Local Restaurants This Weekend

If a picture’s worth a thousand words, what are five local menus worth?

But we’re not here for math, we’re here for the Lit Feast, a city-wide promotion celebrating this weekend’s Arkansas Literary Festival. Five Little Rock restaurants are teaming up with the fest to offer special dishes inspired by some of this year’s featured books.

Here’s what’s on the menu:

Allsopp & Chapple Restaurant + Bar

  • Barbecued pork chops and ham slices served with deviled eggs, baked beans with thick-cut bacon and jalapeno cornbread

Inspired by “The Best Cook in the World: Tales from My Momma’s Table” by Rick Bragg

Capers

  • German chocolate cake

Inspired by “If You Can See It, You Can Be It” by Jeff Henderson

Ciao Baci

  • Small plates of polpettine fritte (fried meatballs), mortadella e peperoni, uova con acciughe (egg with anchovy)

Inspired by “The Italian Table” by Elizabeth Minchilli

Copper Grill

  • Red beans and rice

Inspired by “If You Can See It, You Can Be It” by Jeff Henderson

The Root Café

  • Tomato tart with mustard and ricotta (breakfast only)
  • Lettuce soup (lunch and dinner)
  • Soy sauce egg with sticky rice (dinner only)
  • Apple custard crisp (dinner only)

Inspired by “Everyday Dorie” by Dorie Greenspan

The feast has gone strong all week, but you still have until Sunday, April 28 to get in on the eats.
