››Why did you choose to get into financial advising?
We both have a strong desire to add value to the lives of the clients we serve. We believe that very few fields give you the opportunity to have a more meaningful long-term impact on a family than the wealth management and life insurance businesses. We believe that our profession allows us to serve and partner with our clients while utilizing our natural talents and abilities.
››What sets yours apart from other firms?
Our people, our backgrounds and our approach to our client relationships. We take on a limited number of new relationships each year which allows us to focus an extraordinary amount of time towards understanding every aspect of our clients’ financial lives. Including the two of us, we have 3 attorneys in our firm, and we view our role as being our clients’ “most trusted advisor”. We encourage them to contact us any time they have a financial, insurance, investment, tax or legal question (although we do not practice law or give tax advice).
››What do you like best about your job?
Without a doubt – it is the relationships we develop with our clients and the value we are able to add to their lives through our relationship. Nothing brings us more satisfaction than knowing we have given our clients peace of mind in their financial lives and that this enables them to focus their time and energy on the people and things that are most important to them.
››Do you have a niche clientele?
While we work with all types of clients, our core clients are entrepreneurs who have built successful family businesses that often have 2 or 3 generations working in them. We are able to add significant value for them by not just managing assets, but by also offering guidance in the areas of estate tax planning, insurance, business/management succession and philanthropic planning.
››What makes your customer service outstanding?
It starts by hiring the best people, paying them well and encouraging them to grow. We have created a family environment in our company and really invite our clients into that environment as well. Our entire team views our clients not as a number or source of revenue, but as someone they care about and genuinely want to help.
››What’s your investment philosophy?
We believe that every investment decision begins with an eye towards risk management. We do not subscribe to the more traditional approach of diversification that simply focuses on allocating to multiple asset classes/styles. Rather, we focus on using strategies that have proven methodologies of mitigating losses and alternative investment classes that don’t necessarily move up and down with the traditional equity markets.
Best financial advice you’ve ever been given?
We will not be judged or remembered for what we have accumulated, but for what we did with it. This philosophy is why we named our firm Legacy Capital Group.
