The Friends of KLRE/KUAR is a membership organization for listeners that financially support UALR Public Radio and its mission “to deepen insight into the human experience, empower decision-making and enrich the lives of Arkansans through quality news and cultural programs.”

KUAR FM 89 broadcasts news and information, including national and world news from NPR, award-winning local news and a variety of cultural programs — jazz, folk, humor and more. KLRE Classical 90.5 brings classical music to Little Rock and surrounding areas 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

KLRE and KUAR depend on the support of the community through the Friends of KLRE/KUAR to bring listeners dependable, in-depth, up-to-the-minute radio news, along with cultural programs found nowhere else on the air.

How We Are Funded

The financial support of listeners through the Friends of KLRE/KUAR is essential to provide quality radio programming for central Arkansas. More than 40 percent of the stations’ budget comes from the individual gifts of the Friends of KLRE/KUAR; 25 percent from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock; 20 percent from individual businesses and organizations through program underwriting and 10 percent from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Biggest Fundraiser

Arcade, our spring on-air campaign, is the largest fundraiser for the Friends of KLRE/KUAR, followed closely by Promenade, which begins Oct. 15.

During these five-day fundraisers, community volunteers ask listeners to support public radio by making a financial pledge. Listeners call our volunteer phone bank or pledge online.
