A Mexican Affair Spices Up Argenta Community Theater

As the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre celebrates its 10th anniversary, the troupe will bring “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “West Side Story” and “Twelfth Night” to audiences in central Arkansas.

We all know “West Side Story” is a pseudo-modern-day retelling of the star-crossed lovers Juliet and her beloved Romeo (which is why it made the milestone anniversary lineup). So in honor of Tony and Maria, the Argenta Community Theater will host A Mexican Affair, a cabaret from NYC that celebrates the bond and flow of influence between Mexico and the U.S.

The show was created and is performed by Rafa Reyes, who has played both Bernardo in “West Side Story” and Paris in “Romeo and Juliet,” and blends the “influence of the jazz and Latin rhythms of ‘West Side Story’ and the passion of Shakespeare’s fantastic loves.”

Catch A Mexican Affair at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 20. For tickets and more information, click here.

And don’t forget that “Twelfth Night” will also be at the Argenta Community Theater on Friday, June 24, in a special one-hour, family-friendly adaptation. Get your tickets here.
