Stargazing Cruise at Pinnacle Mountain State Park, Little Rock: Pass the DEET, please. Continuing its summer lineup of evening/nighttime activities, the park has put together a guided tour that sets out from the Jolly Rogers Marina on Lake Maumelle where you’ll learn about stars, constellations, satellites and more. Firecracker Fast 5K in The Heights, Little Rock: This “quick and dirty” race isn’t called “firecracker” just for the holiday. The timed race includes a lot of downhill stretches, so you can go ahead and expect a new PR. With a start line at University and Kavanagh and the finish line at War Memorial Stadium, organizers even provide trolleys to help you get back to your car after the race. Frontier 4th of July at the Historic Arkansas Museum, Little Rock: Huzzah! If you’d like a peek into how the Fourth of July was celebrated on the Arkansas frontier, don’t miss out on this family-friendly event. The day includes living history performances, a mini parade, pioneer games and crafts, a reading of The Declaration of Independence and more. Bring the whole fam and enjoy some ice-cold lemonade. Free Admission at the Clinton Presidential Center, Little Rock: It makes perfect sense to celebrate the nation’s birthday by visiting a presidential center, and that’s why the one in Little Rock’s front yard offers free admission on the Fourth of July. Take the opportunity to come learn all there is to know about William Jefferson Clinton and his time as the 42nd President of the United States.
