Little Rock Weekend Guide: March 5-8

Springtime weather is back in the forecast, and while that does include some rain, the agenda is still filled with activities inside and out (between the raindrops). Let’s get into it. 

 

Thursday, March 5

First Thursday Shop & Sip in Hillcrest // It’s the first Thursday of the month, and that means it’s time to get your shop ‘n’ sip on. Soak up the Kavanaugh vibes while you take advantage of the specials, later hours and extra fun like “Bridgerton” trivia at Kemuri and a patio party at Crying Weasel Vintage. Thursday – Saturday, March 5-7

Classic Movies at Ron Robinson Theater // The popcorn is flowing once again at the CALS theater in the River Market. Up first is “The Big Lebowski” on Thursday at 7 p.m. Then on Saturday, catch “Alice in Wonderland” at 12:30 p.m., “Casablanca” at 3 p.m. and “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” at 7 p.m. Learn more here. “MJ: the Musical” at the Robinson Center // Prepare to have every one of these songs stuck in your head for days. This Tony-winning Broadway show follows the story of the Prince of Pop himself, Michael Jackson, as he prepared for his legendary 1992 Dangerous World Tour. Friday, March 6

19th Anniversary Show at M2 Gallery // Cheers to you, M2. The SoMa art gallery is marking nearly two decades with one of the biggest shows of the year. Expect artist debuts, new pieces from some of your fave local talents and more. Stop in 6-9 p.m. Learn more here. Bonus: Not enough for you? “The Pirates of Penzance” Opening Night at Wildwood Park for the Arts // Modern major-general, reporting for duty. Follow the plight of the unlucky Frederic, who is stuck in an apprenticeship with pirates, on his quest for love, freedom and adventure in this classic comedic musical. Friday & Saturday, March 6 & 7

“Proud!” at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre // Now in its third year, The Rep’s production created in conjunction with Central High’s AP African American Studies curriculum is taking the stage once again. This year’s living history show is designed to “reawaken the voices of Harlem Renaissance artists,” exploring the impact of the movement on Arkansas and beyond. Vintage Market Days at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds // Flea market fabulous is always in style. This traveling market is back with the theme “Cozy Cottage” and giving locals their fill of clothing, outdoor furnishings, antiques, art, decor and more. Shopping hours are 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sunday. Learn more here.

Saturday, March 7

Free Classes at Full Out Barre // In celebration of International Women’s Day, FOB is hosting a day of movement and empowerment with a range of free barre classes. The first session begins at 7:45 a.m. Learn more here. 

Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!” Opening Day at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts // Next up for the AMFA Children’s Theatre is a story that’s a little meta and a lot wholesome. This show is led by the duo from the award-winning children’s books and is packed with laughs, songs and friendship. Catch the show at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., or through March 28. Learn more here.
