If it seems like you’ve been hearing a lot about the Arkansas Foodbank lately, that might just be because September is Hunger Action Month, a time set aside to actually doing something about the hunger in our state instead of just talking about it.
Starting on Thursday, Sept.3, and running though Labor Day, the folks at Big Orange are joining in with End Hunger Week. For five days, both restaurant locations will offer special menu items that, when purchased on specific days, all proceeds will go to the Foodbank. On the first night, the Foodbank team will be at both locations to talk about Arkansas hunger and accept donations.
Here’s the what and when of the specialty menu.
The Ratatouille Burger: locally raised eggplant, Rattles Farm peppers and locally raised zephyr squash piled high on an all-natural, freshly ground turkey patty, topped with fresh, local basil and a signature bun from by Arkansas Fresh Bakery
The Sweet Love Sweet Potato Pie Shake: house-made sweet potato pie filling by Sweet Love Bakery in Little Rock, blended with Yarnell’s Vanilla Ice Cream and house-made pie crust crumbles, topped with a toasted marshmallow (We hear it tastes just like sweet potato casserole.)
Big Orange Sweet Potato Fries: their signature waffle-cut sweet potato fries served with house-made mango curry ketchup
Velvet Orange: a signature frozen cocktail featuring Rock Town Vodka, St. Germain, freshly squeezed orange and lemon juices, House Orange Bitters, Aperol, Senior Orange Curacao and simple syrup.
