Looking to get the kids outside and run off some energy? The Children’s Library playground is perfect for a weekend picnic. Don’t want to splurge on the newest Taylor Swift album? Check it out from the collection at Rooker Library or stream it on Freegal. Need an inexpensive, but fun date night idea? Check out the $5 movies at Ron Robinson Theater (this month you can catch classics like “Clue”).
Of course, your local library will always have the newest releases of books, audiobooks, movies and music to take home and enjoy, but there’s so much more.
Each of CALS’s 15 library branches has dedicated programmers who work hard to create fun, educational and free programming. Terry Library offers a wide variety of engaging adult programs, whether you’re looking to expand your art skills or just hang out in a relaxing environment. Young kids will love the events happening at Children’s Library and Mini Main (inside Roberts Library), while teens and tweens will be at home in the newly renovated teen’s area at Williams Library.
If you’re lucky enough to have a green thumb, you can take your garden to the next level with the seed library at McMath Library. This unique program allows you to borrow seeds, plant them and then return the seeds you harvest at the end of the season. And if you’re lacking the proper equipment, swing by Dee Brown Library and borrow up to five tools from the tool library. If you love the outdoors, grab a book and take in the water view at Maumelle Library.
