Over the course of the local boutique’s 40+ year history, Barbara/Jean has seen various renovations. This one, however, marks an exciting change for the store, transitioning it into a reflection of what it carries: the newest, hottest designers and merchandise available.
But before we dive into the store’s new look, here’s a reminder of what used to be:
Renovations began in January and are on track to wrap up in April. Phase one (shoes, cosmetics and bridge departments) has already been completed, while phases two (designer departments) and three (contemporary department) will hit the ground running on Monday, Feb. 29.
According to owner Christine Bailey, this next phase will have some structural changes involved, so it’s a big one for the store. So far, all flooring has been replaced and the wood and dark paint have been replaced with white paint and marble walls. Glass shelves have been installed in the windows of the shoe department and new light fixtures flank the cosmetic area.
You’ll get a chance to celebrate with the Barbara/Jean team at their grand reopening party on Wednesday, April 6. Guests will be able to explore the entire store, shop specials and view the new lines coming to the store, including Carolina Herrara, Chloe and See by Chloe handbags, Jil Sander, and 3.1 Phillip Lim handbags, plus the latest from Jimmy Choo, Alexander McQueen and Rag and Bone.
