If you’re the kind of dedicated sweets lover who knows every dessert hot spot within a 50-mile radius, you probably already know about Charlotte’s Eats & Sweets in the small town of Keo.
For the rest of you, hold on to you forks and knives.
Charlotte’s is tucked in an old storefront on Main Street, complete with doilies on the shelves, and has been run by Charlotte Bowls since it opened in 1993. Although the menu isn’t confined to desserts alone (they offer a mighty fine cheeseburger or catfish plate), it’s the sweet treats that people travel for.
Each day, the team serves up slices of coconut, caramel and chocolate pies. They also offer egg custard on Tuesdays, lemon meringue on Wednesdays, blackberry or peach cobbler on Thursdays, seasonal pecan pies on Fridays and banana pudding or lemon icebox pie on Saturdays. And of course, they whip up sweet potato and pumpkin pies in the cold months.
Just a half-hour drive from downtown Little Rock, this restaurant has caught the attention of locals and national media alike, making Southern Living magazine’s list of The South’s Best Pies with the coconut pie.
You can find Charlotte’s Eats and Sweets at 290 Main St. in Keo. Store hours are 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday.
