My passion for women’s health began in medical school at the University of Texas Health San Antonio where I discovered a commitment to caring for women across every stage of life. After completing my OB-GYN residency at UAMS in Little Rock, I joined The Woman’s Clinic, providing prenatal care, deliveries, fertility counseling and gynecologic surgery for women throughout central Arkansas.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
How I knew this was my passion
My passion for medicine began with stories about my grandfather, a beloved small-town doctor. Seeing his impact on patients’ lives inspired me, and I couldn’t imagine pursuing any other career.
Best advice I ever received
Don’t take criticism from someone you wouldn’t ask for advice. Medical practice can be grueling, so building a support system that I can trust and respect has been invaluable.
What keeps me coming back to my job every day
My patients and the trust they place in me mean everything. I don’t take that responsibility lightly and feel grateful to be part of their lives in such meaningful moments.
Best career moment so far
Hearing patients say things like, “You make me feel safe,” or “You’ve healed my birth trauma.” It’s not just the big milestones, but these small moments that stick with me.
The one thing I wish people knew about my field
The emotional toll can be significant. OB-GYNs expertly support women through life-changing moments, but we must intentionally process these experiences to protect ourselves from the intensity of our work.
A skill I never expected to need in this field
Efficiently writing notes — the charting is endless!
One practice I use to maintain my mental health
I grew up playing sports, so exercising and staying active are important to me. It helps me turn my brain off and always makes me feel better.
The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall
Go on a walk and talk it out with my husband. He is my biggest supporter and gives me clarity when I am struggling.
Biggest challenges in my career
My son was born around the same time I completed training and started my career. Balancing work and family time is something I am constantly juggling.
What I learned from my first job
I worked in my family’s retail/coffee shop growing up where I learned the valuable skill of customer service and being able to make small talk with just about anyone.
