I joined WER Architects after operating my own interior design firm and have been the Director of Interiors at WER since 2010. I enjoy being a firm associate and serving in a national role for the American Society of Interior Designers. In 2013, I was honored to have been listed as one of Arkansas Business’ 40 Under 40. Throughout my career, my projects have received more than 30 awards, but I am most proud of the 2013 ASID Ovation-Best Commercial Interior Design award for Southwest Power Pool.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
Best advice you’ve ever received?
“Always have a seat at the table.” My boss once told me this after I had chosen a chair in the back of the room during a meeting. As women, we should embrace our ability to engage and be present.
What have been the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your career and how did you overcome them?
Achieving work-life balance with a toddler is always a juggling act. I’m so blessed that my work family is supportive and flexible in allowing me to be a good mother and remain relevant and included in the design process.
What is a typical workday like for you?
My workday is never the same! But it typically includes coordinating with our team on a variety of projects, meeting with clients, researching the latest innovations and trends, presenting concepts and ideas and working with contractors.
How did you know this is what you wanted to do?
I grew up helping my parents build our family home and enjoyed seeing our daily projects come one step closer to completion. It was empowering to see an idea on paper one day and build it the next.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
I love the variety of our projects and seeing the end result. From concept to ribbon-cutting, buildings often take a year or more to complete. I design because I love creating solutions for people and helping them realize their aspirations.
What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?
Do not be overly focused on one path to success. Be more open to all possibilities and know that there are many ways to reach your destination. And once you get there, don’t be surprised if you change your mind!
How do you define success?
At WER we always say, "Great clients make great projects," and it's true. Professionally, it doesn't get much better than happy clients. On a personal level, success has many meanings and small victories count as much as big achievements.
Who is your role model?
It may sound cliché, but my mom is my role model. She taught me to be proud of intellect and skill, be gracious and kind, own up to your mistakes and apologize when needed, and always give your best effort.
