I began with the North Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau in 2013 and quickly rose over the next nine years to director of marketing. I oversee and implement communication, PR and marketing strategies, including social media, media outreach, advertising and graphic design. Our mission is to have a positive economic impact for tourism industry partners in North Little Rock.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
Best advice I ever received
Details are everything. Whether it's wording of an email, thinking through how to improve visitor experience of your destination or making an impression with important stakeholders.
The one thing I wish people knew about my field
PR, marketing, communications … we're all wearing the same hats, and often multiple hats at the same time. It's exciting and challenging: we are constantly diversifying our skill set.
A skill I never expected to need in this field
Feels like I'm learning a new skill every week. I love the creativity of this industry, trying new social media platforms or finding innovative ways to engage people.
One practice I use to maintain my mental health
I've taken Pure Barre classes on and off for years, and the physical exercise combined with being around good people has gotten me through some of my biggest life challenges.
My first job and what it taught me
When I started in the kitchen at American Pie Pizza in Maumelle at 16, I was shy and sheltered. I left confident and even more open-minded.
Nonprofit I wish more people knew about
Arkansas Children's Foundation. Fortunately my children's situations were non-urgent when we've been to Arkansas Children's Hospital, but I saw firsthand the staff's care and passion for each patient.
Best career moment so far
Marketing for an event, like North Little Rock's Northern Lights, is so rewarding. The adrenaline rush of working the event and seeing families create memories is like no other feeling.
How I knew this was my passion
Thanks to my parents, I've loved travel and storytelling my whole life. This career combines both: I get to travel and use my creativity to encourage others to travel.
